A large delegation led by the President of Turkey has landed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The visit, the first by a Turkish leader to the country in decades, comes after UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended an official invitation to Erdogan.

President Erdogan’s delegation includes key ministers in foreign affairs, finance, petroleum, and trade.

According to the official UAE media, Erdogaanan was given a warm welcome and during his two-day stay in Abu Dhabi, he will hold talks with his successor Mohammed bin Zayed and the UAE’s richest men.

In recent years, the two governments have been at loggerheads over conflicting policies in the so-called Middle East.

Turkey supported the Arab Spring uprisings of 2011 that rocked much of the Arab world, while the United Arab Emirates and Egypt were at war with each other.
