MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s former Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak announced on Monday that he would for president in 2022 in an apparent challenge to the country’s embattled President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo whom he had accused of his dismissal last year.

“Today, in Galkayo, I announced my candidacy for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” he tweeted. “I will continue my campaign for parliamentary seat #HOP199 to a successful conclusion.”
